I recently picked up an Xbox 360 controller to use with my laptop to make mobile gaming more easy, but so far i have had little success getting it to work. I have looked at various forums, and none of the solutions have worked for me. I have tried updating the driver in the device manager, but the controller shows up under the Universal Serial bus Controllers section, and not under the Other devices section, and the Xbox 360 drivers do not show up under this section, but they do show up for devices listed under Other Devices. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey friends, I've been trying to get an original Microsoft Xbox 360 controller to work on my main desktop PC. I'm running Windows 10 anniversary update, and when I first plugged the controller in, it recognized it, but didn't react at all when I tried to do anything with the controller.
So I uninstalled the driver and restarted Windows, hoping it would plug-and-play, reinstalling the drivers. Now, Windows doesn't recognize the controller at all. Whenever I plug it in, it says an unrecognized device was attached. In the Device Manager, it says:
'Device Descriptor Request Failed'
The controller works flawlessly on the same PC under Ubuntu, as well as on my laptop PC under Windows 10 (Anniv Update) and Ubuntu. It is definitely not broken.
Any way to manually download these drivers and install them?

Xbox 360 Controller Driver Not Detected Windows 7
- Mar 23, 2017 Xbox controller is not detected. Discussion in 'Troubleshooting: Bugs, Questions and Support' started by Mossarelli. I use custom xbox 360 drivers from a Japanese guy that allows rebinding of the controller. In most other games, the controller is detected.
